FEINDBILD 2.0
Exhibition, Community and Discussion Platform on the Production of Images and Meaning in the Digital Age
From killer games and the cartoon conflict all the way to pirate copies and radical democracy – new fronts are emerging in digital space. Attempts to control the flow of information on the internet intensify the conflict because they appear as attacks on the ideals of a free communication society.
The open, participatory exhibition FEINDBILD 2.0 / IMAGE OF THE ENEMY 2.0 by the artists Christoph Wachter & Mathias Jud traces the contours of digital image disputes and establishes links to historical conflicts having to do with civil liberties, taboos and putting images on the index. The Kunstraum is transformed into an experimental set-up by Wachter & Jud, so as to negotiate explicit representations of violence and bodies as well as of political and religious signs. Net communities and exhibition visitors are invited to intervene in the installations and participate in newly fathoming the controversial images in art-theoretical as well as ethical and aesthetic respects.
